process. ~ William Biggers
Born
in Atlanta, Georgia, USA,
William Biggers began
drawing and painting in early
childhood. He studied Drawing,
Painting, and Design at
Georgia State University,
Atlanta, and later headed the
GSU Graphics and Photography
Unit in the Department of
Educational Media where he
remained for 17 years.
Educational Media's dynamic
production teams, Film/Video,
Graphics & Photography, and
Audio won numerous regional and
national media awards in
education, communications and
the arts.
William left GSU to develop award
winning consumer catalogues for
an importer. Concurrently he
developed the Mountain
Pond creating
one-of-a-kind and limited
edition raku and stoneware. At
the John C. Campbell
Folk School, William was
Resident Potter while heading
marketing, he also taught and
authored a history of the
Brass Town Carvers.
He traveled west to California
to work at the Pocket Ranch
Institute and the Star
Foundation. High in the
mountains above the vineyards
surrounding Geyserville, he
produced marketing materials, a
video, and was on the management
team for the large retreat and
psychotherapeutic facility.
William returned to the Southeast
and soon worked as Operations
Director and Music Personnel
Manager for the Greenville
Symphony, in Greenville, South
Carolina. After four years, he
left the Symphony, took some
time off, and subsequently
returned to his first love, the
visual arts. He began studying
with stained glass artist
Michael Kitchen, then of Tryon
Decorative Glass, Tryon, North
Carolina. There he learned the
art of glass painting, window
design and fabrication.
In January
of 1998, William ventured on his
own to create
Biggers Glass
Painting & Stained Glass
Design. Throughout his career
incarnations, William continued
to create portraits, drawings,
and products for communications,
business, crafts and the
arts ... his specialty and
passion remains portraits.
